Malaysia business visa: Guide for Bangladeshi businessmen

Malaysia is one of the largest economies of ASEAN countries with a GDP growth of 3.5% in 2023. This Southeast Asian tropical country is full of incredible landscapes which makes tourism the largest earning sector of Malaysia. However, Malaysia is a diversified economy to which other sectors like real estate, oil & gas, IT, etc. contribute a major share of the GDP.

The Malaysian government revolutionized its economy by introducing the second-home option for foreigners. Ever since this policy was introduced, foreigners started applying for Malaysian business visas to own a second home there.

There are many types of visas available for Malaysia, such as (Tourist visas, Business visas, Student visas, Employment visas, etc.). The government of Malaysia offers single-entry visas, multiple-entry visas, and golden visas. What is Malaysia Business Visa?

The government of Malaysia revolutionized the country by offering business opportunities and a second home for foreign nationals. The Malaysia business visa allows a foreign national to enter the country for business purposes, including business meetings, trade fairs, business negotiations, etc. Citizens of many countries have access to visa-free entry to Malaysia because of their countries’ agreement with Malaysia.

Since Bangladesh has no such agreements with Malaysia so, the citizens of Bangladesh have to apply for a visa to do business in Malaysia. The Malaysian government offers two types of business visas: single-entry visas and multiple-entry visas. A foreign individual can choose any visa to enter Malaysia for business according to his/her needs.

Single Entry Visa: The Malaysian single entry visa is valid for 3 months and allows a foreigner to stay in the country for a maximum of 30 days.

Multiple Entry Visa: The Malaysian multiple entry visa has a validity of 1 year and allows a foreigner to stay in the country for a maximum of 30 days.

Tips for a Malaysia Business Tour:

You must follow some guidelines before planning your Malaysia business trip. The following tips are:

  • Business Customs: The Malaysian business culture and etiquette are not much different than the other Asian countries. Malaysians prefer joint ventures/partnerships with foreign nationals based on personal relationships and reliability. They value openness, punctuality, and politeness. But they don’t tolerate any kind of embarrassment shame must be ignored for building a better relationship.

Make sure you don’t gift any alcohol or meat products to your Malaysian counterparts as it is a Muslim-majority country. You must exchange your business cards by right hand. It is considered rude to use the left hand. Try avoiding physical interactions with Malaysians beyond a friendly handshake.

  • Lingua Franca: The Malaysian national language is Bahasa Malaysia but it is not mandatory to learn and speak in Malaysian language to do business in Malaysia. English is the second language of Malaysia which means foreign nationals can easily interact with the Malaysians without any communication gap.

  • Plan Itineraries: Business meetings and visits require a detailed travel plan for your hassle-free Malaysia business tour. If you plan your journey from the beginning, you will be prepared for all your meetings. Leave buffers for unexpected delays or interruptions, as well as free time for informal meetings or exploring a new location.

  • Bookings: If you are applying for a Malaysia business visa for your business tour, make sure you make your budget plan carefully. You can check your company’s policy or contact a travel agency like VisaFQ or others, who provide corporate discounts for business tours. It will be reasonable for you if you book your hotel near your business meetings or a location where public transport is convenient.

If you are in an unknown region, choose a hotel with easy access to food, transit, services, and a car park. If you are traveling by bus, train, or airplane, check for the most convenient transportation to get to your accommodation. If possible, book online. Checking for the weather updates and temperature before getting out of your hotel will be a smart move.
